Court of Creativity: How Jersey Mike’s and the Harlem Globetrotters Sparked Creativity in Classrooms Across the Nation

Sports and the arts combined in the ultimate showdown when Jersey Mike’s Subs and the Harlem Globetrotters teamed up with Campus Multimedia to launch Court of Creativity for its third year. This nationwide contest invited elementary schools to channel their imagination through basketball-inspired projects. The campaign brought movement, joy, and expressive learning techniques directly into classrooms across the country.

A Slam Dunk for Schools and Students

To help bring the contest to life, Campus Multimedia created custom classroom resources that made it easy for teachers to participate without added prep. Perfectly timed with March Madness, teachers enjoyed classroom resources that ranged from sneaker and jersey designs to customizable comic strips. Students were given space to dream, create, and compete for a chance to win BIG!

The results were incredible. Schools submitted original projects blending basketball with art, music, PE, and even agricultural science (There may have been a basketball game played while riding donkeys!). The contest inspired themed lesson plans, cross-department collaborations, and sparked creativity in classrooms, libraries, and gyms.

Meet the Grand Prize Winner: Alpha School, Jackson, NJ

At the Alpha School, students didn’t just complete an assignment, they built something unforgettable. Their teachers came together to create an “Athletic Arts” lesson, blending art, music, and physical education in a sensory-rich activity that helped students with exceptional needs feel confident and capable.

As the grand prize winner, Alpha School received $1,000 and a once-in-a-lifetime visit from the Harlem Globetrotters. The day was filled with energy, high-fives, and of course, lots of amazing feats of basketball talent, the kind of memories that live well beyond the school gym.

Brand Impact: Imagination Meets Investment

For Jersey Mike’s, the Court of Creativity was an opportunity to champion young creators, support schools in a meaningful way, and build brand affinity with families, educators, and students across the U.S.

This initiative earned national press, widespread social engagement, and positioned Jersey Mike’s as a brand that invests in imagination, education, and creativity.

This win was a big deal. It shows that when we work hard together as a team, we can accomplish anything.
— Sara Stockton, Alpha School

Court of Creativity proves what’s possible when brands go beyond the ad and become part of communities through school activations.

Jersey Mike’s and the Harlem Globetrotters, through their partnership with Campus Multimedia, created something unforgettable, not just for the winners but for every student who picked up a paintbrush, launched a trick shot, or rode a donkey in their gym.
